Civil war has broken out in UKIP, and Farage’s ex-election hard man Raheem Kassam (pictured above) is carrying the can for turning Nigel into a “thin-skinned, snarling” politician.
So now’s a good time to have a look at an interesting email Raheem sent Thanet Watch on Thursday 16 April, “not for quoting or attribution”…
Raheem wrote:
“UKIP has fought a clean, positive campaign across the entire country, and is the only political party that took the step to ban members who have had a history of political extremism…
“While I am unsure of who you are, or what your background is, I would appeal to your sense of human decency here – and urge your magazine to distance itself from anti-UKIP messaging that could put our supporters and members at risk of intimidation or worse.
“Will you put that on your front cover next week, and distance yourself from the people who are trashing the local area, and spreading untruths about UKIP? Are you committed to free speech, peaceable protest, and British democracy…?
“UKIP has always believed in peaceful democracy, and has never and will never, have any truck with extremists organisations or actions. We are the only party to ban extremists from joining, and we are the only party that has committed to entirely positive campaigning.”
Passionate stuff … except when you remember that this is from the party who
–had an National Front man as Nigel Farage’s campaign manager
–hired a spy who infiltrated that same campaign group and tried (unsuccessfully) to incite them to commit acts of criminal damage.
–welcomed notorious far-right thugs to one of Farage’s meetings in Broadstairs
–the thugs who in the same town attacked Thanet Stand Up To UKIP campaigners and Labour Party canvassers the very next day.
“Clean, positive campaigning…”
Really, Raheem..?
